SGI has unveiled SGI Altix ICE, an integrated, cool-running blade solution. Designed by SGI to close the growing gap between performance and user productivity, the SGI Altix ICE 8200 is a line of bladed servers to handle true HPC applications and large scale-out workloads.
Featuring ultra-dense rack architecture, the Altix ICE 8200 bladed server enables large scale-out environments. Integrated Atoka board allows it to be powered by 2 dual- or quad-core Intel Xeon processors, and up to 32 Gb memory. With support for dual DDR InfiniBand backplanes, server enables communication between nodes and racks. It uses hierarchical network topology for optimal dynamic communication, and includes SGI Conductor software solution stack.
The SGI Altix ICE 8200 is available from SGI and SGI value-added resellers today in configurations ranging from 8 to 512 processors per rack. A full rack powered by 512 Intel Xeon Processor cores is U.S. List priced from approximately $350,000.
