HKSTP, Electricity Tech Ally for Semiconductor Lighting Industry

Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation (HKSTP) and Electricity Technology have announced a strategic alliance to forge regional collaboration by leveraging their respective resources. This initiative is expected to strengthen research in light-emitting diode (LED) technology, and to advance the semiconductor industry sector both in Hong Kong and Guangzhou.



The relevant resources of HKSTP and Guangzhou Research Institute of O-M-E Technology, including LED testing technologies and services, form a solid foundation for meaningful cooperation in that sector. The two organizations will exchange information regularly, and strengthen their coordination through communication mechanism. For its part, HKSTP will provide a superior LED test platform to carry out LED testing services for enterprises in Guangzhou; while Guangzhou Research Institute of O-M-E Technology will set up a specialised LED testing services facility on its premises located at the Guangzhou Science Park, to encourage and assist enterprises in Guangzhou to undergo LED testing and project development in cooperation in HKSTP. This alliance will further broaden technological collaboration and extend the scope of scientific research between Hong Kong and Mainland China, while encouraging the enterprises here and in Guangzhou to develop innovative technologies, which in turn will become a major driving force for future economic and industrial growth.
