Piezo Ceramic Motors Keep Shrinking

Physik Instrumente has launched its patented P-653 piezo motor linear slide is smaller than other miniature linear stages and provides higher velocities and resolution. Consisting of 4 parts, the Model P-653 can replace classical drive elements such as miniaturized motor/lead screw systems or other linear motors. Unit measures 8.0 mm in length with travel range of 2 mm and sub-micron resolution, combined with holding force of 0.15 N. Assembled as unit, moving slider and piezo motor are mounted on PCB driver board requiring 5 Vdc supply. Non-magnetic ceramic motor includes auto-locking feature and is suitable for limited space OEM applications.
