Souriau Provides 8STM Miniature Connectors

Souriau has introduced its 8STM connectors, the circular connectors for applications in military environments. They can house up to 5 contacts in a diameter of 10 mm and with a unit weight of 10 grams. They are designed for onboard applications in missiles, planes, armoured vehicles, future infantry robots, drones, etc. The range of 8STM miniature connectors are set apart above all by their compactness and lightness. Miniaturization is made possible by optimizing the contact holding systems. The contact clips on 8STM connectors are made of plastic instead of metal. This avoids electrical breakdowns between contacts via the clips, and hence enables the contacts to be set closer together. Other technologies have also been applied, such as specific assembly machines and the use of miniaturized contacts. The 8STM range benefits from the experience acquired over many years by the Souriau research and development teams, with the objective of making the contacts and boxes more compact, whether they are intended for industrial, aeronautical or military applications.



The 8STM connectors are available in sizes 2, 4 and 6 for removable contacts of up to size 26, and they provide a choice of four types of base: square with a flange, oval, nut type or without flange (extension leads). The integrated fittings enable easy wiring and help to provide significant weight reductions for the interconnection system. They are designed to stand up to 500 connection/disconnection cycles and they feature a quick-release bayonet type fastening system.
