Power Integrations has announced its series of design ideas to help designers of LED driver circuitry benefit from the company's recently introduced LinkSwitch-II family of AC-DC power conversion ICs. Suited for power supplies and ballasts driving high-brightness LEDs, the LinkSwitch-II ICs offer constant-current performance and minimal external component count. DI-184 illustrates circuit for driving 700 mA of current through strings of 2 series-connected WLEDs; DC side circuit is electrically isolated from AC side. DI-185 and DI-186 both drive 350 mA current through strings of 3 WLEDs. Former utilizes isolated flyback topology, and latter has non-isolated, tapped buck topology. All LinkSwitch-II family members are produced in halogen-free, RoHS-compliant packaging.
