A number of analysts were recently invited to a briefing by IBM’s Emerging Technology Services (ETS) group at its base in Hursley, UK. Operationally, IBM’s ETS group sits between the research teams and software development, applying technologies that are coming from the labs to customer projects, some of which may then be developed into commercial products.
The members of ETS get involved in a wide range of projects, many of which are undertaken as collaborative research with the likes of universities, and on other occasions they are used on a consultancy basis by IBM Global Business Services (GBS) to help deliver customer solutions.
