Lumex's OctoLED Combines Surface Mount Convenience

Lumex has announced a line of surface-mount devices that represent commercial technology to combine the convenience of surface-mount technology (SMT) with the features and capabilities of through-hole, leaded T-5mm epoxy lens LEDs. Including capabilities of through-hole, leaded T-5 mm epoxy lens LEDs, the Series SML-H1505xxx-TR OctoLEDs have off-the-board height of 0.43 inch and footprint of 0.24 x 0.24 inch. Available on standard 24 mm tape for automatic insertion, RoHS compliant OctoLEDs can withstand soldering temperatures of up to 10 sec at 255ºC. Units are available in full range of colors including red, yellow, green, blue, or white with variety of lens finishes, offering different viewing angle options. Samples of these devices in standard colors are available from stock, with production quantities in 8 - 12 weeks. Pricing is dependent on color specified and quantity ordered, and is approximately $0.30 per unit in production quantities.
