Osellus has announced the availability of IRIS 2.5, a version of the IRIS process authoring system aimed at simplifying the deployment of the Rational Unified Process (RUP) from IBM Corporation using the new Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 Team System. Until now, the enactment, or real-time execution, of RUP processes had to be performed manually. The manual approach is error-prone, resource-intensive, and instills little practitioner acceptance. Many RUP deployments fail as a result.
IRIS 2.5 offers an automated solution for such a task. With IRIS, RUP processes, whether developed by the Rational Process Workbench or the new Rational Method Composer, can easily be turned into Visual Studio 2005 Team System process templates and enacted across multiple projects. Furthermore, IRIS Process Author offers a comprehensive visual environment for creating tailored versions of organizations' baseline RUP process and creating a separate Visual Studio 2005 Team System template for each process.
